Annual student art show begins April 20
Louisiana Tech’s School of Art galleries will host the Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition, one of the most popular and well-attended shows of the season.
The opening reception will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 20 with the awards ceremony beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Main Gallery.
This year’s show has ranges contemporary media to traditional technique. The annual juried event features a selection of the best student work produced during the academic school year. All art students, from freshmen to graduate, are eligible to submit work, but acceptance is competitive.
Douglas Pierre Baulos, assistant professor of drawing and bookmaking at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, juried this year’s Louisiana Tech University Student Art Show. He received a Master of Fine Arts from the University of New Orleans in 1993. His current books are explorations (visual) and meditations (poetry) centering around his ideas of spirituality, love, death, shelter and hope.
The art galleries are located in the Visual Arts Center between Tech Drive and Mayfield Street, next to the Natatorium and across from A.E. Phillips School. The galleries are open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and admission is free to the galleries and to the art exhibition. For more information please call the School of Art at (318) 257-3909.
