Louisiana Tech University has launched a new website to highlight a number of degree and certificate programs as well as research and economic development support services for the Shreveport/Bossier City metropolitan area.

“Louisiana Tech University @ Shreveport/Bossier City” offers over 20 of Louisiana Tech’s most recognized degree programs in Shreveport/Bossier City this fall.  These programs and their curricula are designed to meet the needs of key industries throughout northwest Louisiana.

Program, application and course registration information is available at www.shrevebossier.latech.edu – a website developed exclusively to serve the needs of students and organizations in Shreveport/Bossier City.

“We have built Louisiana Tech University @ Shreveport/Bossier City through direct feedback from the community and a shared vision to create new and unprecedented growth opportunities for the region through higher education,” said Louisiana Tech President Dan Reneau.  “Louisiana Tech is steadfast in its commitment to serve the higher education needs of the Shreveport/Bossier City metropolitan area and all of north Louisiana.

“We are excited about the future and the role we can play in strengthening the communities of northwest Louisiana.”

Louisiana Tech University @ Shreveport/Bossier City has built its course delivery options around convenience for non-traditional and currently employed students and an understanding of their needs.  The fall 2012 courses will be offered through online delivery, compressed video technology, or in a classroom at one of Louisiana Tech’s Shreveport/Bossier City locations – the Louisiana Tech University Shreveport Center (8028 Shrevepark Drive–Shreveport), Louisiana Tech – Barksdale (Barksdale AFB Educational Center), and the Cyber Innovation Center (6300 East Texas Street, Suite 100–Bossier City).

Zazell Dudley, owner and CEO of Dudley Worldwide, LLC and president and CEO of the Louisiana Black Chamber of Commerce, says this new announcement continues to echo the fact that Louisiana Tech is a leader in the state, and more importantly in the region.

“I applaud the efforts of Louisiana Tech to both, hear and respond, to the needs of the Northwest Louisiana community,” said Dudley.  “Launching this new website is exciting as it lends support to current and pressing needs of this region as our Higher Education and Economic Development demands continue to grow.  As owner of Dudley Worldwide, LLC, and President of the Louisiana Black Chamber of Commerce, I am certain individuals and small businesses will welcome and utilize this new and expanded opportunity.”

“We are uniquely positioned to strengthen the academic and economic development potential of North Louisiana,” said Dr. Terry McConathy, executive vice president and dean of the Graduate School at Louisiana Tech.  “Our nationally recognized academic programs and highly qualified faculty bring depth and scope to this exciting initiative.”

In addition to its degree and certificate programs, Louisiana Tech also offers Shreveport/Bossier City access to a number of student and community service and economic development support centers.  These centers and services include the Engineering Resource Center, the Technology Business Development Center, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Education Services, and community outreach programs and initiatives as well as tailored training courses through continuing education.

“We are pleased to make our education, research, innovation and business development resources more accessible to the community,” said Dr. Les Guice, vice president for research and development at Louisiana Tech.  “These resources have been developed over the years through the dedicated efforts of our faculty and staff with a goal of serving the region through innovation and economic development.”
