Percussion Studio plans month of musical events

Louisiana Tech’s Percussion Studio is planning a variety of events for the month of April, including a performance by internationally known guest artist, an ensemble festival and a percussion clinic.
On Friday, April 4, She-e Wu, an international percussionist, will perform at 7:30 p.m. in Stone Theatre. Wu is an associate professor of music and chair of performance and jazz facilities at Rutgers University.
Wu will also lead a percussion clinic at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 5 in Stone Theatre. For both events, Tech students and faculty with a valid ID can attend for free. General admission is $10, and admission for non-Tech students, seniors and children is $5. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
Also on April 5, the North Louisiana Youth Percussion Ensemble Festival will begin at 10 a.m. in Howard Auditorium. Several regional percussion ensembles will perform, and the event is free and open to the public. At 7:30 p.m., the festival will hold its concluding concert, which will feature the 2014 Honors Youth Percussion Ensemble, directed by Wu.
Lastly, on Tuesday, April 15, the campus and community are invited to attend a free master class on percussion and an informal performance by the Brooklyn-based sextet, Mantra Percussion.
