This event is a joint effort of College of Business Deans Dr. James Lumpkin from Louisiana Tech and Dr. Ron Berry from ULM, along with the Ruston Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, West Monroe Chamber of Commerce, West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce, Monroe Chamber of Commerce, Union Parish Chamber, Louisiana Economic Development, and the North Louisiana Economic Planning Partnership. Centric Federal Credit Union sponsored the Networking Breakfast.

“Regionalism and Economic Development: An outlook on the national and local economy” was the theme from this year’s Summit.  The national outlook speaker was Mr. John Stoltzfus, managing director and chief market strategist at Oppenheimer Asset Management, who sponsored his appearance.  Stolfzfus illustrated national trends and had a positive outlook on economic growth and recovery.

Dr. Robert Eisenstadt, professor of economics and director of the Center for Business and Economic Research at ULM presented on the economic forecast of Northeast Louisiana and cited the popularity of the Duck Commander and the reality series Duck Dynasty as a key factor in market growth.  Dr. John Francis, associate professor of economics at Louisiana Tech explored the economic impact of accepting the Medicare expansion of the Affordable Care Act.

“We are extremely pleased with the continued interest and success of the Business Outlook Summit,” said Lumpkin.  “Being able to provide a national outlook from one of the best in the business is an invaluable resource we are grateful to be able to provide.”
