Dolliann Hurtig, an associate professor of French at Louisiana Tech University, and Marie Glévéau, Fulbright teaching assistant in French from Rennes, France, made a presentation at the Louisiana Foreign Language Teachers’ spring conference in Shreveport.
Their presentation, “Allons au Cinema,” delivered in French, reflects how much Francophone cinema is appreciated in America and abroad.
The Louisiana Foreign Language Teachers’ Association is a statewide association whose membership includes elementary, high school and university educators.
Hurtig also made another presentation at the Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages Annual Conference in Boston.  Hurtig and Joyce Beckwith, co-chairs of the National Commission on Cinema of the American Association of Teachers of French, presented “Allons au cinema: Promoting French through Francophone Films.” Their presentation focused on recent Francophone films and how to use film effectively in the foreign language classroom.
The NECTFL Conference is the largest of the five Regional Conferences in the United States of America, founded in 1940 by the president of Barnard College. While NECTFL attracts educators from the Northeast, the association welcomes educators from across the country to present and to participate.
