Business and community leaders, technology entrepreneurs, and leaders in innovation throughout north Louisiana will gather at Louisiana Tech University, April 29 for the second annual I-20 Top 20 Regional Showcase.

On display at the event will be innovative entrepreneurs, products, and services developed through the I-20 Corridor Regional Accelerator as well as a variety of new start-up companies and cutting edge technology development projects emerging from Louisiana Tech and their private partners.

The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. in University Hall on the Louisiana Tech campus with presentations beginning at 6:15 p.m.  I-20 Top 20 will feature university resources that support entrepreneurial activity and economic development such as the Business Accelerator, the Thingery, the Innovation Enterprise Fund, and Top Dawg New Venture Championship.

“The last I-20 Top 20 event had big crowd of people from all over north Louisiana,” said Dr. Dave Norris, executive director of Enterprise and Economic Development for Louisiana Tech.  “It was not only a great showcase for new technology innovations and entrepreneurial activity, but it was also lots of fun. There are fascinating people from the business community, the science and technology community, mixing with students, faculty, new entrepreneurs and community leaders. And if you’re hungry, there will be finger foods.”

Business ventures participating in this year’s I-20 Corridor Regional Accelerator will share brief summaries of the new products and services that are being launched, and demonstrations of innovative research technologies that are advancing to the marketplace.  Louisiana Tech’s I-20 Corridor Regional Accelerator is partnership with the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the Delta Regional Authority.  It is recognized nationally as a novel program for spurring new technology innovations, technology-based economic development, and job growth.

Guests attending the event will have an opportunity to meet Louisiana Tech students who are leading the LA New Product Development Team and to become more familiar with collaborative initiatives that are producing top-notch computing solutions for corporate entities, developing and implementing cutting edge online marketing strategies, and generating high-tech solutions for military and defense applications.

Each year, “I-20 Top 20” provides a platform to highlight collaboration and entrepreneurial activity supported by Louisiana Tech and their regional partners, the potential these collaborations have for greater economic impacts for our region, and the valuable resources which are facilitating this progress and success throughout north Louisiana.

For more information or to RSVP, please contact the Louisiana Tech Technology Business Development Center at (318) 257-3537 or tbdc@latech.edu.  Parking for the event will be available in lots located at the intersections of Everett Street and West Railroad Avenue or at West Louisiana Avenue and College Street.
