Seventy-five voices combine for Tech concert

May 2, 2014 | General News, Liberal Arts

Come hear one orchestra, three choirs and four soloists – the only thing missing is two audience members, so come and bring a friend.
This Louisiana Tech event celebrates the 25th anniversary of the School of Performing Arts. The Louisiana Tech University Chamber Singers, Concert Choir, North Central Masterworks Chorus and Chamber Orchestra will all perform Tuesday, May 13 in Howard Auditorium.
“This concert is the grand culmination of the entire year of these wonderful and talented young musicians here at Tech,” said Dr. John Petzet, director of choral activities. “They have spent the last seven weeks preparing these masterful pieces.”
The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m., and the choirs will sing Haydn’s “Lord Nelson Mass” and Vivaldi’s “Gloria.”
“The Tech Chamber Singers will perform the ‘Vivaldi Gloria,’ and then all three choirs will combine for the Haydn ‘Lord Nelson Mass,’” Petzet said.  “Both pieces are exciting, dramatic and action packed.”
For students and children under the age of 12, the event is free, and tickets for adults are $10. They will be sold at the door. For more information contact Petzet at 318-257-4109.
