Percussion Ensemble performs spring concert

May 5, 2014 | General News, Liberal Arts

Louisiana Tech’s Percussion Ensemble will perform a spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 12 in Stone Theatre.
A faculty member from Arkansas and members of the Tech faculty perform at the event.
Dr. Joshua Knight, from the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith, will be featured on the program. Knight will perform a multi-percussion solo and a keyboard duo with Tech faculty member Dr. Gregory Lyons. Knight will also perform with members of the ensemble on “Mudra,” which was originally composed to accompany choreography and uses compositional techniques found in the classical music of North India.
Other highlights of the concert will include a work performed entirely on glass, a piece for keyboard percussion inspired by the Northern Lights and a performance that borrows musical ideas from the island of Bali.
The concert is free and open to the public. For more information contact Lyons at 318-257-5470 or at glyons@latech.edu. Visit percussion.latech.edu to learn more about percussion events at Tech.
