Tech's Hurtig presents at national conference

Dr. Dolliann Margaret Hurtig, Louisiana Tech associate professor in French, held three key roles at the occasion of the American Association of Teachers of French National Convention held at the Astor Hotel in New Orleans in July.
Hurtig served as chairman of hospitality and procured letters from the Governor Bobby Jindal and New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu. Also she and Joyce Beckwith, regional representative from the New England states, led a workshop on their recent book on film, “Allons au Cinéma : Promoting French through Films.”
For the workshop, seven authors including Beckwith and Hurtig, co-chairs of the National Commission on Cinema, presented their contributions to the volume. Presenting in French, Hurtig presented the film “La Fille du puisatier.” Other workshop presenters included Dr. Michèle Bissière, U.N.C. at Charlotte; Dr. Nathalie De Groult, Siena College, New York; Dr. Fawzia Ahmad, President of the AATF of the State of Colorado; Dr. Christine Gaudry, Millersville University, PA; and Jody Ballah, University of Cincinnati. They discussed their upcoming second volume of “Allons au cinema”and invited members to submit articles to the volume.
Hurtig will serve as editor with Beckwith as assistant editor of the new volume, which will be published in spring 2016 by the American Association of Teachers of French on the campus of Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois.
