Music department announces honors

Louisiana Tech’s department of music will honor top performers, scholarship recipients and the 2015 Music Alum of the Year, Dr. Susan Brumfield, at its annual Honors and Awards Recital.
Brumfield, who received her bachelor’s in music education in 1979, is a professor of music education at Texas Tech University. She is a clinician, consultant, author, composer, arranger and conductor of children’s choirs and a Kodály music educator. She is also the artistic director and conductor of the West Texas Children’s Chorus.
The event will feature student performers Kevin Keeler on saxophone, Mary Rudd on piano, Alex Spiers in tenor and Cody Ford on euphonium.
Recent scholarship recipients, including Amy Royal, Music Student of the Year, and Cody Ford, recipient of the Laverne Irvine Scholarship, will be honored.
