French professor presents at international conference

Dr. Dolliann Margaret Hurtig, associate professor of French at Louisiana Tech University and Chevalier de l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques, has returned from Saguenay Peninsula in Francophone, Canada where she and Joyce Beckwith from Harvard University, gave a presentation on Francophone Cinema at the American Association of Teachers of French International Convention.

Hurtig and Beckwith, co-chairs of the AATF National Commission on Cinema, presented a Sneak Preview of Volume II of A”llons au cinéma: Promoting French through Films” that will be edited by Hurtig with Beckwith serving as assistant editor. The peer-reviewed volume will be the work of 17 authors, including articles written by the co-chairs, and will be published by the American Association of Teachers of French. The anticipated date of publication is February 2016.
Also during the AATF Convention, Hurtig and Michael Hébert, president of the Rhode Island Chapter of the AATF, were honored at the Gala Dinner of the Palmes Académiques for having received the prestigious French award at formal ceremonies at their universities in the past year. The dinner was attended by seventeen Chevaliers de l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques from across the United States and Canada.
