Research published by electrical engineering professor selected as best paper
Dr. Kaushallya Adhikari, assistant professor of electrical engineering at Louisiana Tech University, has published the 2018 European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP) Best Paper.
Adhikari was the first author on the paper, “Extending coprime sensor arrays to achieve the peak side lobe height of a full uniform linear array,” which was co-written by John R. Buck and Kathleen E. Wage. The paper, selected for the award for the Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, outlines novel research on sparse array signal processing.
The EURASIP was founded to improve communication between groups and individuals that work within the field of signal processing, and to exchange and disseminate information in this field all over the world. The association provides a platform for dissemination and discussion of signal processing, and the Best Paper Award is highly selective.
“Dr. Adhikari is an exceptional new faculty member in our Electrical Engineering program at Louisiana Tech,” Dr. Hisham Hegab, dean of the College of Engineering and Science said. “This best paper award is an indicator of the high quality research she is performing. We are excited that our students have the opportunity to work with her in advancing her research in sensor networks.”
“I feel honored and encouraged to receive this award,” Adhikari said. “I will continue my research in signal processing with the very supportive platform that Tech has provided me to further my research in this area.”
Adhikari focuses her research on investigating new ways to decrease the number of sensors required to transmit and receive signals in communications thereby reducing system cost and complexity. She received her master’s and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
A certificate will be presented to Adhikari and her co-authors at the 2018 EUSIPCO Awards Ceremony in Rome, Italy, Sept. 3.
