Tau Beta Pi Scholarship Program was established to reward upcoming seniors who meet three established criteria: scholarship, campus leadership and service, and promise of future contributions to the engineering profession. The scholarship is awarded to outstanding students in engineering and awardees are selected by the Fellowship Board of the honor society.

Dishman, who is pursuing a double minor in Spanish and music performance in addition to her mechanical engineering major, is an officer in multiple organizations at Louisiana Tech and serves as vice president of the American Society for Civil Engineers and president of Pi Tau Sigma. She is also a National Academy of Engineers Grand Challenge Scholars Program apprentice and a member of the Tech Society of Automotive Engineers Baja and American Society of Civil Engineers concrete canoe teams, and a French horn player in the Louisiana Tech Symphonic Winds and Brass Choir.

“Haley is a great student that has excelled academically,” Dr. Heath Tims, associate dean of undergraduate studies in the College of Engineering and Science said. “She is another example of the outstanding students that we have at Louisiana Tech.

Dishman is the second Louisiana Tech student to earn a Stabile scholarship in the past two years. Last year, mechanical engineering student Luke Villermin earned the coveted scholarship.

In the upcoming school year, Dishman will continue undergraduate research using solar cells and 3D printing. She plans to pursue a Ph.D. in mechanical or civil engineering after graduation.
