Engineering student earns scholarship from LES
Louisiana Tech University Civil Engineering student Chris Willis was recently awarded the 2018 Women’s Auxiliary Scholarship by the Alexandria Chapter of the Louisiana Engineering Society (LES).
The Women’s Auxiliary Scholarship is open to academically exceptional engineering students from central Louisiana who have successfully completed at least 60 hours of undergraduate education.
Dr. Sanjay Tewari, assistant professor of civil engineering and construction engineering technology, says that he is proud of Willis’s work ethic.
“I recommended Chris based on his performance in my classes, and I wanted him to be rewarded for his hard work,” Tewari said. “Scholarships are a way to recognize excellence, and I am glad that Chris was able to secure this one. My best wishes are with him.”
“This scholarship will be very instrumental in allowing me to further my studies in Civil Engineering during my final year of undergraduate studies,” Willis added. “With it, I will be better able to offset the cost of tuition and books.”
The LES is the only active engineering organization in the State of Louisiana that serves all disciplines and every area of practice.
